Where an address API earns its place

Every industry below keys something on an address: a delivery, a policy, a connection, a visit, a record. What they share is the answer. A G-NAF id is the address, whatever anyone typed, so the id is stored and the text is derived, from shipping labels to census statistics.

Ecommerce and retail

A failed delivery costs more than the margin on the order. Addresses are taken once, at checkout, and that is the moment to get them right.

Logistics, couriers and last mile

A consignment is only as good as its address. Coordinates from the register, not from a geocoder guessing at a string, and every component in its own field for the label.

Real estate and property

Listings, valuations and inspections all key on one thing: which dwelling. The G-NAF id is that key, stable across renamings and reformatting, with the ABS mesh block attached for every statistic about the area.

Insurance

Risk is a location. A quote needs the exact dwelling, its coordinates for flood and fire overlays, and the mesh block for the census data underwriting draws on.

Utilities and telecommunications

Connections, meters and serviceability checks are per premises, and a unit in a block is a different premises from the block. The address components carry the unit, level and building name separately.

Government and councils

Rates, permits, waste collection and consultation are all by address, and the register is the same one the public sector already uses. Attribution travels with the data under CC BY 4.0.

Banking, lending and identity

Know your customer starts with a real address. A resolve says whether it exists, returns it in a canonical form for matching across systems, and never depends on how the applicant typed it.

Field services and trades

A job is a visit to a door. Coordinates for the route, the unit and level for the door, and a suburb that is spelled the way the driver's map spells it.

Health and aged care

Home visits, patient records and service catchments all rest on an address that is right the first time and stable in the record afterwards.

SaaS, CRMs and AI agents

Any product with an address field, and any agent that is asked about one. One API for the form, the import and the assistant, with the same key and the same price.

Not listed? The four endpoints are the same for every industry: the reference has them all, and the free tier is enough to find out.
